My other very personal opinion is that Apples move to introduce 64GB in the 16 was pure genius. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding.
If I drop down to the 32gb, would it be safe to assume that my pressure should stay in the green for most things I likely dont fully understand the relationship between memory used and memory pressure. Haha. Can You Increase Ram For R Studio In Software Tends ToAs the memory requirements of software tends to increase as it is updated. You could very easily slip into the mid 30s in a year or two. Can You Increase Ram For R Studio In Upgrade When MiniAlso I should admit Ill likely upgrade when mini-led comes out. I got this with a Apple employee friend discount so I hope to not take too bad of a resale hit (15 off). I recently bought a 16 MBP with 64gb of ram and am noticing that in activity monitor my memory used is typically in the mid to high 20s and my pressure is always green. If I drop down to the 32gb, would it be safe to assume that my pressure should stay in the green for most things. It would be easy to look at it as memory used is how much you need, but I know thats not the case. Also, Im the type of person who has a bunch of tabs and programs open, does Lightroomphotoshop, a single VM usually. ![]() If I drop to 32 and fill my memory used, Will the pressure then rise. ![]() Memory used has little to do with memory pressure, because the operating will always to take advantage of whatever RAM you give it. My guess is that more than half of this RAM is occupied by things that you dont actively need but the OS does not purge it because there is not much point after all, you have more then enough space to be used speculatively. For modern everyday computing (homeoffice work), 8GB is ok, 16GB is plenty. People who might need 32GB are pros working with hungry software, where you have large datasets that need to be available on a short notice. Gb. my personal opinion is that its pretty much useless on a consumer CPU with dual channel memory. It cant utilize this much RAM efficiently, so you end up using it as glorified, expensive and battery-sucking cache. For workflows that truly need that much RAM, you also probably need one of the 16 core CPUs with multiple memory channels. ![]()
